MORNING ROUTINE: Ready to take flight?

Take off with these hydration habits to kick off your day:

 1. Drink Water First Thing.

Want to spice things up? On an empty stomach, lemon water has been shown to not only hydrate you, but give you a boost of Vitamin C and aid in digestion throughout the day.

2. Ingest Electrolyte Rich Foods.

Electrolytes are KEY to allowing your cells to fully absorb that water you just had. To prolong the effects of hydration, each electrolyte-rich foods for breakfast, such as:

→ Spinach, Cheeses, Bananas, Yogurt & Almond butter

3. Put on that Sunscreen!

Your skin’s thirsty, too! Keep it quenched and protected with at least 30 SPF sunscreen; otherwise, your skin cells are at risk for dehydration, early aging, and damagae.

BOARDING PASS: Electrolyte Edition

HYDRATION HACKS: Ready for Landing

Know Your Real Water Needs…

Use the pee check. pale yellow = hydrated, dark yellow = drink up. Remember to Include hydration from foods: watermelon, cucumber, strawberries, lettuce.

Hydration ≠ Just Water

Sweat = loss of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium). Without them, water alone can leave you feeling slow.

Hack: Add a pinch of salt + squeeze of lemon to your water after sweaty workouts or when waking up to balance your salt levels.

Timing is Everything

Chugging a gallon of water at once? Don’t! Your body can’t absorb it all at once.

Hack: Sip consistently throughout the day. Set a reminders or use a larger water bottle. Pre-hydrate before workouts or long days outside instead of just rehydrating after.

FACT VS. FICTION

Fiction: Water flushes out toxins

Fact: It is not water alone doing this, but rather your kidneys and liver. The kidneys are doing all the garbage disposal– water just keeps it going.

Fiction: Drink more water when it’s hotter outside.

Fact: Drink more water, period. Although yes, definitely stay hydrated out in the heat, remember to drink water consistently, even indoors!
